    New Old Tool, Finally Revealed!

Ok, I've been bad at updating the blog... maybe I'll do better this year, maybe not. Anyway, lets assume the glass is half full and start with a fun one! I worked on a new variation of an old tool awhile ago, here's the original blog post https://www.makerneer.com/post/2018/11/10/a-new-old-tool-what Here's the original picture I shared. Looks kinda like an art deco Woolly Mammoth?! Alright, so what is it! Get to the point man! OK, drum roll please: It's a bean sizing tool tha

$h%t Only a Maker Would Say...

It's been a busy week here with lots of different projects happening and I caught myself having a few funny moments... Thought I'd start sharing some of them! Our first installment in "S#%t makers say": "This looks like it turned out great, I just need to get the other tape so I can get the tape off and see the whole thing!" You need tape to get the tape off? WTH? In fact I do. Sometimes. I guess I'm a tapeaholic?! Don't judge me, It's a GF (laser cutter) thing... OK, fine. W

OMG, I actually used the speed control on my orbital sander today!

OMG, I actually used the speed control on my orbital sander today!

I can't say I actually thought I'd ever really use the speed control on my random orbital sander. But today I did. Yes it was even on purpose... And I'm impressed with how well it worked! Wait a minute... If you didn't think you'd use it, WTH did you buy it?!?! It was purdy?! No, well, yes, but... I like it because it has a real handle in addition to the normal palm grip. I find this helps dampen the vibrations from the sander better which is nice when you're using it for lon

Merry Late Christmas to my Ears!

Sometimes it's the little things that make you excited, like bubble wrap. Today it's not bubble wrap that has me excited, it's 4" insulated/silencer hose ducting. But, to be fair the box it came in had bubble wrap so... right, moving on, here's a picture of it in all it's glory: I know right? Who wouldn't get excited by fiberglass and alumunium all wrapped up in a polyester sleeve! I'll tell you once Wiferneer stops pretending it's part of a radiation containment suit. Or rob

    Box-imus Maximus

Owning a laser cutter pretty much means making boxes is an obligatory responsibility. And yeah, honestly, it's been pretty satisfying to be able to rip out a custom size box with the awesome looking laser cut finger joints in an afternoon. However... Kerf was a 4 letter word here at first. The box joints were too tight. Then they were too loose. Then you forgot to zero your calipers and there's that one box that shattered when you applied a bit too much Percussive Persuasion

    First Fricken Laser Blog Post

The blog has been a little slow because I've been working on learning how to use the new laser cutter! Going from 3D CAD to 2D illustrator/inkscape type drafting has been the biggest learning curve for me. But the ability to make amazing looking designs has me hooked. For example. Here's a cute gift I made for friends of ours that adopted a new puppy this weekend! Here's how the basic workflow went: Wiferneer was pintrest-ing. Weathered pallet boards leftover from another pro
